We Live FM was given the chance to ask Matt some additional question about his upcoming album and we got some great answers! A big thanks to Matt and we wish him much success on the release of his debut album “Let Go”!

ADAM: TAKING YOU BACK TO THE WRITING PROCESS, DID YOU HAVE THE WHOLE ALBUM MAPPED OUT RIGHT AWAY OR WAS IT A GROWING PROCESS?

MATT PALMER: It was definitely a growing process. I started the album not even knowing I was making an album. I just wrote a few songs in my room which led to singing with HoriPro and then the idea for an album came much later. I think my sound has evolved and expanded since I started collaborating with different producers, but melodically, it’s still very me.

ADAM: NOW, YOU WRITE ALL YOUR SONGS WHICH WOULD YOU SAY FANS WILL RELATE TO THE MOST ON THIS ALBUM?

MATT PALMER: It’s hard to say because you never know what kind of relationships a person has been through. I hope some of the ballads like “Hold Onto My Hand”, “Rain”, and “Come Back To Me” resonate with people because they come from a very honest place.

ADAM: WHAT CITY THAT YOU HAVEN’T BEEN TO WOULD YOU LIKE TO PERFORM AT?

MATT PALMER: I was actually born in St. Louis, MO and I haven’t been back since we moved when I was three! It’d end up there for a concert one day.

ADAM: BEFORE RELEASING YOUR DEBUT ALBUM TODAY YOU RELEASED A MIXTAPE A FEW WEEKS AGO AND YOU HELD A CONTEST FOR THAT, TELL OUR LISTENERS A LITTLE BIT ABOUT THAT.

MATT PALMER: I’ve worked closely with music collaboration site IndabaMusic.com for the past few years and they host a lot of remix contests over there. Through those contests, I saw so many incredible producers so I invited them to remix a few of my songs from Let Go and the results were really great! It’s up for free download on Bandcamp.com now – you should check it out. These guys could definitely be the next Diplo one day!
