David Blaine & John Starks Help Commence Garden Of Dreams “Dream Week”

What is it like to glide on a skating rink with the New York Rangers alumni, shoot hoops with New York Knick legends and kick your legs high in sky with the world famous Radio City Rockettes? I can only dream of it, but 40 deserving kids from SCO Family of Services in New York City got to live that dream thanks to The Garden of Dreams Foundation and partners in their annual “Dream Week”. For the third year in a row “Dream Week” has created the opportunity for some of New York’s most vulnerable children to see what the world has to offer and what they can one day aspire to be.

The story of “Dream Week” started several years ago when Jean Watson a medical writer passed away leaving her long-time accountant Peter Wunsch $2 million dollars to be used toward providing children a chance at pursuing their dreams. Peter, a longtime NY Rangers fan formed a partnership with The Garden Of Dreams Foundation and SCO Family of Services to carry out Ms. Watson’s wish, which led to the creation of “Dream Week”.

Having covered The Garden of Dreams annual talent show in February, I was so inspired by the organization that I had to be there to cover “Dream Week”. I was fortunate enough to be on hand this past Tuesday to cover the foundation’s awards ceremony at Planet Hollywood in New York City, the final event of “Dream Week”. The ceremony awarded the SCO kids with such awards like “Fiercest Competitor”, “Trivia Champ”, and “Best Slip N’ Slide Distance” to name of few. And to make it extra special John Starks from the New York Knicks was there to hand out the awards as famous magician David Blaine closed out the ceremony with some of his best magic tricks.

It was a great event and incredible week for these kids who otherwise would not have the opportunity to dream big. You can bet because of the willingness in Garden of Dreams, SCO Family of Services, Ms. Watson and Peter Wunsch these kids will now have the hope and great memories that they will carry with them for a lifetime.

A big thanks to Garden Of Dreams for having us and stay tuned for our video coverage as we give you an in-depth look at “Dream Week” coming soon!
