About Album

Macy Todd

We’ve been huge fans of Macy Todd since her single “I’ve Got A Feeling” was released in 2016. She’s continued over the past few years exploring different sounds with a series of impressive singles like “Bump That”, “Dominoes” and most recently an EP that included a favorite of ours “Lonely World”. We can’t wait to see what 2020 brings for Macy. Get to know more about Macy Todd in our interview below!

An interview with Macy Todd

How did ``Lonely World`` come together?

I wrote it while i was dating someone in a really sad part of life where I was going through a pretty big transition with my friendships. It was one of the only things i felt like i could hold onto at the moment. That person was really kind to me.

What inspired the creation of the ‘You Never Liked This Song’ EP?

I literally had someone in my life tell me they hated one of the songs off the record.. It was a song I always wanted to record and so when that person and I had a falling out, I did the whole thing for myself. It was kinda like I was doing it because I had been doing things based on other people’s opinions for so long, I was over it.

What do you want fans to take from your music and who you are as an artist?

I want my music make people feel like they’re wearing a warm blanket and drinking hot chocolate. that’s the dream!!!!!!

What can fans expect from you in 2020?

I’m going to be starting a new project, but I can’t give many details on what that looks like, because I haven’t fully figured that out for myself yet. haha

What new songs from other artists are you loving right now?

I am really late to the Kacey Musgraves party. So  i’ve been listening to her non-stop – My favorite songs of hers right now are “Mother” and “Slow Burn” oh and a lot of Patty Griffin. 🙂

What artist or producer would you most love to collaborate with in 2020?

Brandi Carlile! She’s the reason I started writing at age 13.

What does music mean to you?

It’s like a relationship i’m in.. more like a marriage. I’m learning to take care of it, remember why I loved it in the first place, and fight for that love in the most authentic way I know how.

A favorite line in a song that you really connect with:

Kacey Musgraves “Slow Burn”“Old soul, waiting my turn, I know a few things but I’ve still got a lot to learn”
