WHEN I FIRST LISTENED TO “ALONE” I WAS INSTANTLY OBSESSED AND STILL AM. THE SONG HAS THE PERFECT FORMULA FOR A POP HIT AND FOR FANS OF FEMALE POWERHOUSES IT REALLY HITS THE SPOT. TAKE US BEHIND THE CREATION OF THE SINGLE AND YOUR CONNECTION TO IT. THE SINGLE HAS HIT OVER A MILLION STREAMS AND COUNTING ON SPOTIFY. HAS THE SUCCESS AND THE FANS REACTION TO IT MET YOUR EXPECTATIONS?

Thank you! I love “Alone”, that song took my project to another level I think. The songwriters on this one, Ella Eyre and Hank Solo was an honour to work with since I’ve known of them for a long time. The message is very clear haha- I think people are scared to be alone and sometimes the behaviour that creates can be hurtful to others. So, face yourself and your fears basically. And be nice. Expectation wise I think I always try to keep them chill but I knew it was a banger.

“GET TO KNOW ME FIRST” IS YOUR LATEST SINGLE AND ONE IN MY OPINION WOULD THRIVE ON RADIO. THERE’S A GREAT FLOW TO THE SONG AND THE CHEMISTRY BETWEEN YOURSELF, JULIE BERGAN, AND AWA REALLY SHINES THROUGH. TAKE US THROUGH THE CREATIVE PROCESS OF THE SINGLE AND HOW THIS COLLABORATION CAME ABOUT.

“Get To Know Me First” is a celebration to being single and all that comes with it haha. I was in the studio with one of my friends who also happens to be a genius Swedish pop star, Benjamin Ingrosso. And we basically did what we always do when we write songs (we’ve wrote “Words” that’s my biggest song so far, amongst others.) I love writing with him and I think that we was at the same stage in our lives where we just wanted to write a banger club/summer tune that we could go out and have drinks to. I kind of wrote it as a tune that I would wanna listen to when I go out with my girls. And that’s we’re I came up with the idea of adding Awa and Julie Bergan to the song and really making it into a power female anthem.

I FEEL LIKE YOU’RE THE TYPE OF ARTIST THAT ADVERTISERS ALONG WITH TV AND MOVIE STUDIO EXECUTIVES WILL KEEP AN EYE ON AS YOUR MUSIC COULD FIT SO WELL AS A SYNC PLACEMENT. I COULD SEE “ALONE” AND “GET TO KNOW” IN A MOVIE TRAILER AND GRABBING THE SPOTLIGHT IN TURN. IF YOU HAD A CHOICE, WHAT WOULD BE THE ULTIMATE SYNC PLACEMENT FOR BOTH “ALONE” AND “GET TO KNOW ME FIRST”?

I’m a sucker for romantic comedies so would love for them to be in any of those lol.

I think it’s important to show both the strong part of who you are but also the part you maybe don’t love about yourself. People are so shallow these days, I don’t wanna be one of them artists.

WHEN I THINK OF ALL THE GREAT POWERHOUSE POP ARTIST OF THE PAST 20-30 YEARS I REALLY FEEL THAT YOU HAVE THE POTENTIAL OF MAKING AN IMPACT ON THIS GENERATION AS THOSE ARTISTS DID IN THEIR TIME. BETWEEN YOUR SINGING ABILITY AND MESSAGING THE INGREDIENTS TO REALLY CONNECT WITH LISTENERS IS THERE. HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR ARTISTRY AND THE DIRECTION YOU SEE YOUR FUTURE RELEASES GOING IN? ARE THERE ANY ARTISTS THAT YOU LOOK UP TO THAT PLAY AN INFLUENCE ON YOUR MUSIC?

Thank you, I love empowering women and people with my music and inspiring people to open up and talk more about what’s important to them. That’s what I hope I can continue to do, and obviously I would love to do a big tour so I can sing to as many people as possible. I would love to work with the artists I listen to like Mahalia, drake, summer walker, Jorja Smith etc.

WITH THE CHALLENGES OF THE PANDEMIC, HAS IT ALTERED YOUR PERSPECTIVE ON LIFE AND RELATIONSHIPS? DO YOU SEE IT INFLUENCING WHAT YOU WRITE ABOUT?

I’ve connected with myself haha. Being at home more makes me calmer and more focused on my purpose.

OF THE TALENTED ARTISTS, SONGWRITERS, AND PRODUCERS OUT THERE IS THERE SOMEONE YOU WOULD REALLY LOVE TO COLLABORATE WITH NEXT?

It’s always been a dream of mine to work with Salem Al Fakir and Vincent Pontare here in Sweden. They’re very busy. But if I’m really charming they might make room for me? Other than that, I’d love to go back to London and work with all the talented people I know there.
