NXTSTYLE was on the scene Thursday night at The Space at Westbury Theater as the Long Island Music Hall of Fame ushered in a brand new class headlined by Taking Back Sunday, EPMD, Jimmy Webb, Melanie, Seymour Stein and included presenters Billy Joel, Columbia Records exec Ron Alexenburg, comedian Jackie “The Joke Man” Martling among others.
The 2018 ceremony also served as a fundraiser to support a variety of Long Island centric music education initiatives designed and administered by LIMHoF including the support of its newest project, The Long Island Music Hall of Fame’s “Tour Bus”, a mobile music education museum, which will travel to school districts and private schools across Long Island with full-immersive and interactive exhibits. Proceeds also assist with an annual scholarship program, awarded to graduating High School seniors who have shown an interest in pursuing a career in music.
Past LIMHoF inductees include Simon & Garfunkel, Billy Joel, Lou Reed, Carole King, LL Cool J, Salt N Pepa, Joan Jett, Twisted Sister, Mariah Carey, The Ramones, Barbra Streisand, Run DMC, Neil Diamond, Pat Bentar, KISS, Taylor Dayne, Clive Davis, Tony Bennett and many more.
